A great place to go get away from everything and set back and relax and listen to mother nature for awhile
Love this place. I have been going here since I was 3yrs old. I know take my family here. Lovely place
Great spot to camp out for a while. There are vault toilets and two converging rivers provide ample water if you have a filter. There are fire rings scattered around the parking loop as well as into in the woods. Recently the Forestry Service has dumped large rocks blocking off one of the more secluded sites.
Nice free place. Pit toilets. Grounds filled with hunters but no one talked to me while I was there. Could fit a bit rig, not far off of the paved road.
My girlfriend our dog and I spent 4 days, 3 nights camping here on our way from southern NJ to Winston-Salem NC. It was a beautiful place to spend time far removed from the rest of the world. Neither of our cell phone providers (verizon/sprint) had service so it was hard to plan activities for the days. Definitely plan ahead if you can. There is a reservoir 7 miles down the road across route 60 from the campsites, and an access point to the Appalachian trail about 5 minutes east along route 60. Be careful as to not go when it is expected to rain because the sites are in a flash flood zone.
We setup our site right on the small stream running by the campsites and used it often to wash dishes and ourselves. They stock the stream with fish for fishing - be mindful of what soaps you use in the natural world. There is no running water, or electricity, but there is an outhouse with no flush toilets.
